Tutoring Club

Tutoring Club is a ministry of Youth for Christ reaching grade school and middle school children through intentional relationships with caring adults and community partnerships, assisting these students academically, while introducing them to a caring adult role model, and teaching them to become life-long followers of Jesus Christ. A local principal states that, “Those in Tutoring Clubs always make progress.”

Youth for Christ, in conjunction with local churches, offers free individual tutoring for at-risk grade school children in their weekly Tutoring Clubs. There are ten different clubs spread throughout the Stateline area, in three counties and five cities. Journey Church is the home of one of these clubs.

Purpose/Goals

Every participating student will:

  • Be assigned to an adult mentor who will work one-one-one on a weekly basis with that student in a safe group setting
  • Experience the love, hope, and life that God offers through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Receive assistance with their current academic workload to assist the student in achieving appropriate grade level testing results
  • Be encouraged to make their education an important part of their future development

Tutoring Club takes place on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The Journey Church Tutoring Club runs from October through April.

Tutoring Club is more than homework and book learning; it is an opportunity for students to receive one-on-one attention, while working on the academic areas in which the student is struggling.
